BUILD A CUSTOMER AVATAR

  • Build and sketch out a full bio on your target customer
    • Age, Sex, Income, Interests, etc...
  • Research key sources of information about this person
    • Research Media kits, TV Shows, Magazines, Social media, Websites, QVC, Online groups
    • What language do they use when they talk?
    • What desired results are they trying to achieve
    • What are their pain points?

TITLE + BULLETS

  • Use words and phrases you cam up with from your customer avatar

  • Find products that fly under the radar and don't attract to much attention
  • Create brands that serve and avatar and not a single niche
  • The subject matter, target audience, other attributes and intended use fields are very important to fill out correctly
    • Find and request the category report to find these keywords to use
  • You can use the fabric type field to insert extra keywords. You will find this in the "more details" tab section. 
  • Spend good money on product images that tell a story. 
    • Use PickFu to split test your images
  • Have influences create product videos that you can upload to Enhanced Brand Content
    • You can use those videos in You-Tube pre-roll ads to promote your product

TRAFFIC AND LAUNCHES

  • Have people ask specific questions on your Amazon listing as that will tend to index on Google. 
  • The best way to get product reviews is to have a high quality product. Use the Early Reviewer program if needed. 
  • Use Many Chat, E-mail, launch services and PPC when launching to drive as much traffic and sales as you can. 

OTHER ADVICE

  • Treat this as a real business
  • Keep pushing forward and don't be afraid to fail
  • Make sure you have enough money to launch a product before you begin

  • Respect Amazon's rules and TOS because it's their platform

Tips to Creating a Million Dollar Business on Amazon w/Greg Mercer of Jungle Scout - EP118

In this amazing podcast episode I have a great conversation with Greg Mercer of Jungle Scout where Greg gives amazing tips to help sellers build and create their Amazon business. As Greg and I discuss Amazon has changed a lot over the years but if you focus on the basics then you can set your self up for massive success. The key to growing and getting to the next level on Amazon is to simply keep launching and adding more quality products.

PRODUCT SELECTION AND SOURCING

  • Look for products that are in demand and can be improved to beat the competition
  • Consider selling products that are a little higher priced than normal ( $17-$50 )
  • Be cautious of selling products with a lot of moving parts or electronic items
  • Find great suppliers by looking up the importing records of your top competitors
  • Work to build a long term relationship with your supplier that is mutually beneficial
  • Find multiple suppliers of a product to be able to effectively negotiate pricing
  • When asking the supplier to customize the product explain your reasoning and give great details

LAUNCHING PRODUCTS AND LISTING OPTIMIZATION 

  • Build your own email list and audience that you can launch products to
  • Run aggressive PPC during the launch phase along with giveaways to get ranked
  • Use a tool like the Jungle Scout web app to determine your giveaway amount
  • Gain reviews through follow up emails by using a service like Jumpsend
  • Split test your main imagine to determine what is the best performing image

OUTSOURCING 

  • Sellers should learn to do their own product research and keyword research
  • Tasks such as product photography and listing creation should be outsourced
  • Use a service such as Jungle Market to find pre-vetted freelancers for Amazon sellers

Your Amazon FBA 411 News Update - EP115

There is an awful lot going on in the world of Amazon right now and I thought I would do a quick breakdown of what you should be aware of as an Amazon seller. This breakdown should get you caught up to speed quickly. 


4 HOT NEWS ITEMS: 

1.  South Dakota Sales Tax Collection

Amazon begins collecting and handling Sales Tax for the state of South Dakota starting March 1st. I recommend collecting sales tax in your home state at minimum. I use Tax Jar to do this for me as do many other Amazon FBA sellers.  As always please talk with your tax professional for advice and guidance. 

 

2.  2018 Amazon Seller Results 

  • Nearly 200,000 small and medium-sized businesses sold more than $100,000 in Amazon’s stores in 2018.
  • More than 50,000 small and medium-sized businesses exceeded $500,000 in sales in our stores in 2018.
  • The number of small and medium-sized businesses eclipsing $1 million in sales in Amazon’s stores worldwide grew by 20 percent in 2018.

 

3. Amazon Voice of the Customer Dashboard

What is it? - A way for you to monitor your listings so you can address problems and avoid getting your listing shut down.

CX Health is determined by comparing your offer’s negative customer experience (NCX) rate with those of similar offers. The NCX rate is the number of orders for which the customer reported a product or listing issue divided by total orders. Amazon listens to customer feedback across returns, refunds, customer service contacts, and product reviews. Comparing your offer’s negative customer experience (NCX) rate with those of similar offers.

Takeaway - Look at the customer feedback to address any potential issues with the accuracy of your listing. Make sure the listing is accurate.

 

4. Amazon Project Zero

What is it? - Amazon’s Project Zero will let brands remove counterfeit listings of their products. They will give brand owners the ability to do this on their own as long as you aren’t abusing it.
