Listen to the podcast to get started now!

MY TOP 6 MISTAKES TO AVOID WHEN SELLING PRIVATE LABEL PRODUCTS ON AMAZON - EP 25

In this episode I walk you through some common but big mistakes that sellers often seem to make when selling private label products on Amazon FBA.

Many of these mistakes can be avoided.

So get up to speed with the podcast on how to avoid the mistakes.

6 BIG MISTAKES TO AVOID:

  1. PICKING A PRODUCT THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS SELLING
    1. Watch the review groups to study what others are selling
    2. Avoid case study products – Don’t be that guy
    3. You must dig deeper. Go beyond the best sellers list.
  2. PICKING ITEMS WITH TOO LITTLE OF DEMAND
    1. Unique is great but there needs to be a market large enough
    2. Track with tools like Google trends, camel, and other on my resources page
    3. Use Jungle Scout to quickly check general demand
    4. *Reference this link/video for more on Jungle Scout <========
  3. NOT DIFFERENTIATING YOUR PRODUCT IN ANY WAY
    1. Be different and stand out
    2. Address the customer reviews
    3. Improve the product and make better. Competition is a great thing.
  4. FAILING TO PROPERLY USE PPC
    1. You can crush your competition with better PPC campaigns
    2. Learn it and commit to it or hire someone
    3. Use the data to fine tune your listings and keywords
  5. FAILING TO GET AN INSPECTION
    1. What happens if the product shows up bad upon delivery?
  6. GETTING SHINY OBJECT SYNDROME
    1. Stay focused on these things… Conversions, reviews, customer service
    2. Don’t worry about ANYTHING else (Facebook, Shopify, etc…)
    3. The party is on Amazon. It’s all you need to worry about right now

MY TOP 6 MISTAKES TO AVOID WHEN SELLING PRIVATE LABEL PRODUCTS ON AMAZON - EP 25

Apr 27, 2016

Welcome To Episode #24 of the Amazon Private Label Show Podcast!

In this episode I answer 4 questions from Amazon FBA sellers and listeners of the Private Label Show Podcast.

It's gonna be awesome!

In this episode I answer 4 great questions from Amazon FBA sellers.

If you have a question that you would like answered on a future podcast episode please join the private Facebook mastermind group to submit your question.

Lets get started!

QUESTION 1 - Luis

Hi Nick, first of all, awesome show! In terms of questions, I am about to have my first shipment delivered to FBA and I am trying to figure out the product photo strategy. Do I try to take the shots myself (using a white background) or go to a pro, if latter, any suggestions?

ANSWER -

  • Hire a professional every time no matter what unless you have the skills to pull it off.
  • Ask your supplier if they have a photographer on site to assist with images.
  • Head to Fiverr.com or Upwork.com to hire a skilled photographer that knows how to shoot Amazon images.
  • Look into other professional services such as Upgradedimages.com

QUESTION 2 -  Garrett

Are all inspectors equal? What qualifications and/or requirements are important when getting an inspection?

ANSWER -

  • Go for experience when your product is complicated or sensitive.
  • If you have an electronics item or specialty item then spend more on a specialized inspection company.
  • If the product is basic go for lower priced ones.
  • Test the communication with the inspection company first.
  • Look for how many years they have been in business and try to find reviews.
  • I use Frontline and love them. Recently tried Richforth and not loving them.
  • Use Alibaba to book the inspection for the best deals.

QUESTION 3 - Jonathon

I think my biggest question right now is how and where to organize effective giveaways (or selling for $1.00). For example, if I want to give away 200 products over a 10 day period, how would you organize that and get it in front of the freebie seekers?

ANSWER -

Here is my strategy for giveaways. Give away 10 codes personally in Facebook review groups that you can post to. They know the drill. Follow up personally with them or have a VA do it.

After you get some reviews come in… Do a blast with a review service that meets your needs. I love GetBSR.com and regular Facebook review groups. Let them handle the rest. If you want a 10 day package you might need to negotiate for custom pricing. Or you can purchase the services of 2-3 blast or review groups to coordinate a longer promotion.

Bottom line... Pay someone else to worry about organizing your launch.

Question 4 - Ross

Hi Nick just caught up on all episodes and keen for more. As an international and looking to land my first product direct to Amazon via air (just receiving samples to Australia) two queries are UPS and DHL custom agents as well as freight forwarders ( just need some direction on what input from me to get through customs). Also can you recommend a 3rd party fulfillment agent in the US that could prep for delivery to Amazon at reasonable rates? ( I assume also once in the US UPS Amazon shipping rates kick in hopefully). Thanks Nick ps.. I love your intros on the pod casts they make me smile, boom and how the heck are ya - choice, cheers

How I Am Using Instagram To Grow My Amazon FBA Business-  AMAZON PRIVATE LABEL SHOW PODCAST EP 23

Apr 15, 2016

Welcome To Episode #20 of the Amazon Private Label Show Podcast!

In this episode I will cover some important do's and dont's when it comes to your Amazon sales page. I will also give you some of my top tips to help you improve your Amazon product page and increase your conversions. These simple tips and ideas will help you convert more and make more money!

Lets get started!

TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR SALES PAGE - AMAZON PRIVATE LABEL SHOW PODCAST EP 20

As an Amazon private label seller you know that a high converting product sales page is extremely critical to your success.

Lets talk about the makeup of the sales page.

Specifically the Title, Bullets, Images and description.

Not getting serious about each one of these critical components of your Amazon sales page can cost you big time.

Leaving money on the table sucks.... So don't be that person that neglects this.

Each section of your Amazon sales page should be optimized.

Always be testing and updating to maximize conversions and sales.

Here are a few general rules that Amazon says you should be following.

GENERAL RULES: No promotional messages, No directing to website, no symbols, Follow the character limits, Each word should be caps in the title, no all caps in title

These are clearly just a few rules for you but I highly recommend you check out your Amazon category style guide for all of your specific guidelines.

It's important you know the rules and work to keep in compliance with the rules to avoid penalty from Amazon.

10 TIPS I TALK ABOUT IN PODCAST:

1.      Title is used for keyword ranking. Ensure your top keywords are in here. No need to over do. If in title don’t put in your back end search terms.

2.      As you run pay per click you will get knew keyword data – use NEW hot converting keywords and put them in your title

3.      Check to make sure your listing is online daily. It might get suppressed if you don’t follow the rules.

4.      Write numerous headlines/titles and say out loud.

5.      Bullets.. Don’t clutter or write a book here. Should be clean

6.      Description should have a call to action ALWAYS

7.      Hire someone to do the photos! Use all 9 spots, get extra images

8.      Create and use promotion box – 2 for, 3 for, 4 for

9.      Save your entire listing in case you need it later

10.   Always be testing and tracking changes

LETS KEEP GOING HERE..

TITLE: 200 characters max, No promotional messages, Use your brand name

  • Title is a headline that needs to catch attention, give description, and entice the buyer to continue on, buyer should know what you are selling without a doubt
  • Look at your top competitors and study, write out 5 different ideas, has to flow and sound good

BULLETS:  Highlight the top features of your product. Characters will vary by category.

  • Using checkmarks or other symbols is technically not allowed. Use at your own risk
  • I start off with the benefit in all caps then a colon: followed by feature info
  • Don’t clutter or write a book here.
  • Include any warranty info here. That’s ok

DESCRIPTION: Describe accurate info in detail, Size, Warranty, No promo material or websites. Max is 2000 characters. No HTML allowed except <p>

  • I use bold tagging, breaks, paragraph
  • Make it look clean- dive deep into feature and benefit
  • Make sure to have a call to action
  • Avoid just having large globs of text. Looks bad. Should look clean.

IMAGES: Pure white background, At least 1000dpi, image should occupy 80% of image area,

  • Anything extra besides the product image you might receive a quality issue notice.
  • People break the image rules all the time. It’s up to you.
  • I mainly use clean image shots and a few model in action shots
  • Main image is critical – should be large and detailed and take up about 80%
  • Hire a photographer - Fiverr is acceptable, don’t do yourself unless you are good
  • Use up ALL of your 9 images allowed
  • Get extra images made up to have for later

TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR SALES PAGE AND INCREASE CONVERSIONS - AMAZON PRIVATE LABEL SHOW PODCAST EP 20

Apr 2, 2016

Welcome To Episode #17 of the Amazon Private Label Show Podcast!

In this episode I breakdown my goals and plan to be making over $30,000 a month profit while selling on Amazon FBA. I will give you my outline and plan specific actions that will lead me to my goals and desired business outcomes.

Amazon Private Label Show Podcast - How To Make Over $30,000 A Month From Amazon FBA

I have been hard at work building the foundation for my Amazon FBA business. I normally am a big picture thinker. The short game just doesn't interest me.

I thought I would share some of my plans and goals for the rest of 2016 and beyond. It is my plan by the end of 2016 to be making over $30,00 in profit from my Amazon private label business.

Will I hit that goal?

I have every intention of doing so and look forward to the challenge.

Make sure you listen to the podcast to learn more about my plans.

Here is a general breakdown of some of my plans for the rest of 2016

  • Have at least 11 products by the end of 2016 making 30K profit a month
  • All products will belong to the same brand
  • Each product will have several variations of color and size
  • Each product will be making about $100 a day profit
  • 11 products x $100 = $1100 x 30 = $33,000/month

Product Research And Launch

  • Training a VA to do product research following my guidelines using Jungle Scout
  • Ask existing audience and customer base what needs they have
  • Make sure each product is going to be a winner before committing
  • Launch at least 1 new product a month, follow launch process
  • If product doesn't perform to expectations then liquidate and move on

Automation And Outsourcing

  • Outsource and automate everything that makes sense to
  • Utilize freelancers and virtual assistants from Upwork when possible
  • Virtual assistant to handle customer service and monitor daily sales and reviews
  • Virtual assistant to help with product research and talking with suppliers
  • Virtual assistant to manage social media accounts
  • Outsource Amazon PPC, listing creation, etc...
  • Utilize tools such as Sales Backer for review and feedback automation

Social Media Goals

I don't just want to rely on Amazon for sales and traffic so I know my brands social media presence needs to be solid. I am building a brand and company that I want to sell off and cash out on some day so building an audience and following is important to me.

Now do you have to invest time and energy into social media for your products or brand? Absolutely not! This is just my plan and goal. I am just a believer in Amazon but I also know better to not put all my eggs in one basket.

Here are the total stats I am shooting for by year end 2016

  • 100,000 Instagram followers
  • 30,000 Facebook followers
  • 10,000 person email list
  • Start a Pinterest account
  • How will I do this?
  • Virtual assistant to mange daily postings
  • Product inserts with a call to action to follow on social media
  • Product insert drives them to a squeeze page to capture email address using Leadpages and Aweber
  • Leveraging other peoples followings and audiences
  • Do product giveaways to rapidly grow stats (See Shopify Article)
  • Use RaffleCopter

Building Out My Shopify Site

  • Utilize Amazon FBA to handle delivery of product sold on Shopify site
  • Hire content creator for blog
  • Offer branded clothing on my Shopify site to enhance brand
  • Have a charity affiliation for my brand by the end of 2016
